Cannabis Trade Regulatory Agency
We aim to ensure the integrity of the U.S. cannabis market is safe and accessible
About
The Cannabis Transparency & Responsibility Alliance (CTRA) is a nonprofit organization committed to building a fair, safe, and sustainable cannabis industry in the United States. We bring together regulators, industry professionals, technologists, and public health experts to shape ethical frameworks, resolve disputes, and support responsible market growth.
Our mission is to ensure the legal cannabis market operates with integrity—protecting consumers, businesses, and the public from the risks posed by bad actors and unregulated practices.
What We Do
National Standards for Ethical Practice
We work hand-in-hand with stakeholders across the cannabis supply chain to define and maintain a shared code of ethics. These national rules set the foundation for consistent, responsible practices—from seed to sale.
Compliance Intelligence Platform
CTRA offers a tech-enabled solution that aggregates cannabis regulations from the municipal to federal levels. Our platform helps businesses understand what rules apply to them, where they operate, and how to meet or exceed those standards.
Self-Evaluation Tools
We empower producers and sellers to assess their operations for alignment with both government and CTRA standards. By identifying risks early, businesses can prevent costly compliance failures.
Conflict Resolution
CTRA facilitates neutral, structured dispute resolution to help resolve conflicts within the cannabis industry—whether between businesses, regulators, or consumers.
Transparency & Safety Initiatives
We believe transparency drives accountability. CTRA advocates for clear labeling, testing protocols, and public access to enforcement and compliance data to promote trust in the legal market.
Consumer Education
We publish accessible, fact-based resources to help consumers navigate the cannabis landscape safely. From understanding labels to recognizing red flags, we help the public make informed choices.
Why It Matters
The legal cannabis industry is at a crossroads. Without rigorous, collaborative standards and oversight, the door is left open to unethical practices, consumer harm, and the erosion of public trust. CTRA exists to make sure that doesn’t happen.
We believe that a responsible cannabis market is not only possible—it’s essential.
